Garden centre members can now nominate staff for our 2024 Rising Stars programme sponsored by Westland Horticulture.
We’re requesting nominations by March 1, 2024.
The candidate should:
In your opinion be a rising star or have the potential to be a rising star in your business
- Have a passion or desire to contribute to this year’s topic of environmental & sustainability
- Hold a position below management level
- Be available to attend several workshops throughout the year (approx. six) – a mixture of face-to-face and virtual meetings.
- Have access to financial data including sales and cost prices
- Demonstrate a drive and commitment that they wish to be developed
- Have a sales idea for growing an area of the business in a sustainable or environmental manner.
What will happen:
Nominations will be reviewed, and successful candidates invited to join the program for 2024.
- The finalists will be invited to take part in a series of workshops held by Gordon Emslie on topics such as retail disciplines, driving sales, financial awareness, and presentation skills.
- The finalists’ work will be assessed throughout the year to review the various elements on which the finalists have received coaching.
- The best performing finalists will be invited to the seventh workshop and will then be invited to the annual GCA Conference in Jan 2025 where they will present the progress made on their project idea to the conference. Gordon Emslie will provide coaching in presentation skills in advance of the conference.
